Configuring the Campus LDAP Server as an Address Book in Outlook 2007

by Tom Pomroy last modified 2008-06-18 10:59

Adding the UCD campus ldap server as an address book will allow you to look up UCD email addresses straight in your Outlook client, including the Ctrl-K shortcut to look up and verify email addresses. If you have a lot of correspondence with units outside the Dean's Office, this is a must-have feature. Here's how to do it:

1. Run Outlook

2. Click on Tools... Account Settings

3. Click the Address Books tab.
LDAP in Outlook 1
4. Click New.

5. Choose Internet Directory Service (LDAP) and click Next.

6. Enter Server name: ldap.ucdavis.edu

7. Click on More Settings (Click ok on warning box).

8. Click on the Search tab.

9. In Search Base, click Custom: and enter: ou=People,dc=ucdavis,dc=edu
LDAP in Outlook 2
10. Click ok, Next, Finish, Close.

11. Restart Outlook and enjoy your new directory features!
