While Box does offer Windows and MacOS tools that are available on all Dean's Office managed computers, when accessing Box from a personally owned computer or the Remote Desktop service provided by the Computing Resources Unit, the online web portal for Box must be used.

Accessing Box from a personal computer:

  1. From any internet connected computer, go to ucdavis.box.com
  2. Click the Continue button under "Part of UC Davis?"
  3. If prompted, authenticate via CAS
  4. You should now see the Box folders that you normally see
    • IMPORTANT: on personally owned computers, downloading files from Box onto the computer itself is strictly prohibited for security reasons.

Accessing Box from the Remote Desktop service:

  1. Navigate to ucdavis.box.com
  2. Click the Continue button under "Part of UC Davis?"
  3. If prompted, authenticate via CAS
  4. You should now see the Box folders that you normally see

Things to know:

  • The Windows and MacOS tools offered by Box are not permitted for use on personally owned computers.
  • Accessing Box, or any content stored in Box, is not permitted from any public computers.
